Change DNS On Asus Router

DNS expands to Domain Name System. It converts internet names into actual IP addresses. This conversion happens automatically each time you visit a page on the internet. When you change DNS on Asus router, you will also be changing the DNS settings for every computer on the network. The two effective DNS servers on the internet that you can select are:

  • Step 1:Google Public DNS
  • Step 2:OpenDNS

In case you are unsure which one to choose from the above two options, please use the Google Public DNS to change DNS on Asus router.

If you change the DNS settings on your Asus router, you will have to enter the Primary and Secondary settings. If the Primary settings cannot be found, the Secondary will be used.

For Google Public DNS, make use of these settings:

  • Step 1:Primary: 8.8.8.8
  • Step 2:Secondary: 8.8.4.4

For Opendns, Use The Settings Given Below:

  • Step 1:Primary: 208.67.222.222
  • Step 2:Secondary: 208.67.220.220

Now, let us see how to change the DNS settings on an Asus router.

Normally, the devices on your network will not start using your new DNS settings until you have rebooted them. After rebooting any of the devices on your network, do the following:

  • Step 1:Go to the device’s network settings.
  • Step 2:Verify that the device is using the DNS servers that you have specified to change DNS on Asus router.
