HOW TO CHANGE DNS ON ROUTER

Here are the guidelines to change the DNS on your router..

  • Step 1:Power on your computer and go to the Windows desktop.
  • Step 2:Press the 'Windows' key on your keyboard and type ‘cmd’ in the Start menu’s text field. Press Enter.
  • Step 3:The Command Prompt is opened. Type(without quotes) ‘ipconfig /all’ and press Enter.
  • Step 4:Locate the ‘default gateway’ field and copy that data to the clipboard. Alternatively, make a note of it.
  • Step 5:Enter this ‘default gateway’ data in the web browser’s ‘address bar’ and press Enter.
  • Step 6:Key in your router’s admin username and password. (By default, they should be ‘admin’ and ‘password.’ Click Login.

  • Step 7:The router’s graphical user interface loads. Click the Network tab and navigate to the ‘use these DNS Servers’ checkbox. Click it.

  • Step 8:Type the Primary(mandatory) & Secondary(optional) DNS addresses in the respective fields. (For example, you need to enter ‘1.1.1.1’ in the primary DNS field for Cloudflare.)
  • Step 9:Enter the hostname and then click Save. This completes the DNS change procedure.
