- Step 1:Connect the Ethernet cable to the port on the laptop and one of the ports in the router.
- Step 3:Turn on the PC and the laptop.
- Step 4:You will have to wait for a couple of minutes for the PC and the laptop to detect the internet connection.
- Step 5:Now, you have to enable the file-sharing option on the laptop.
- Step 6:Click the Start button at the bottom of your laptop desktop screen and select the Control Panel option.
- Step 7:Select the Network and Sharing option from the Control Panel and click the option Change Advanced Sharing Settings.
- Step 8:Under the Public section, select Turn on Network Discovery and click the checkbox for the option Turn on File and Printer sharing option.
- Step 9:Click the option Turn on Password Protected Sharing and click the Save Changes button in the same Public section.
- Step 10:Now, you will have to open the Windows Explorer (Windows key + E).
- Step 11:Navigate through the Windows Explorer window and right-click on the folder you wish to share the documents and select Share With > Homegroup option from the list.
