HOW TO CONNECT WIFI ROUTER TO COMPUTER
To use a wireless network connection for your computer, you need to connect your wireless router to the computer. Perform the simple steps below to quickly set up a wireless connection for your computer.
- Step 1: Plug one end of the Ethernet cable to a modem and the other end to the WAN/Internet port of the wireless router.
- Step 2: Now, connect the computer to the router using an Ethernet cable.
To configure the Wi-Fi router:
- Step 1:Go to the computer, open Google Chrome or any other web browser, and type the wireless router’s IP address in the address column.
- Step 2:When the wireless router’s login page appears on the screen, type the correct username and password for authentication in the appropriate fields and click Login.
- Step 3:This will open the web-based interface page of the wireless router. Navigate to the Wireless Settings section.
- Step 4:Fill the Wireless Network Name field with the network name of the wireless router.
- Step 5:Make sure to enable the SSID Broadcast feature by selecting the checkbox next to its option.
- Step 6:Set the network security type as WPA/WPA2- Personal in the appropriate field.
- Step 7:After entering the password of the wireless router in the Wireless Password field, click Save at the bottom of the screen.

- Step 9:Your router’s wireless network is now enabled.
To connect a computer to the Wi-Fi router:
- Step 1:Make sure your computer is installed with Wireless Network Adapter.
- Step 2:Now, click the Network icon on the Taskbar.
- Step 3:Select your network SSID. Provide the network key.
- Step 4:Once you are connected to the network, the Network icon in the taskbar should show signal strength.
How to Connect Two Computers Through Wireless Router
COMPUTER 1
- Step 1:First, connect your computer to the router network.
- Step 2:Click the Network icon in the system bar of your computer and then click the Open Network and Sharing Center link.
- Step 3:The Network and Sharing Center window displays on the screen.
- Step 4:Select the Set up a new connection or network option on the main panel of the screen.
- Step 5:Select the ‘Set up a wireless ad hoc (computer-computer) network’ option and then click the Next button in the Set up a Connection or Network window.
- Step 6:Click Next when you see the Set up a wireless ad hoc network window on the screen.
- Step 7:Network information such as network name and network key is present at the backside of your wireless router’s label.
- Step 8:Use this information to fill the Network Name and Security key fields.
- Step 9:Make sure to select the checkbox next to the Save this network option.
- Step 10:Make sure to select the WPA2-Personal option from the Security Type drop-down menu, and click Next.
- Step 11:Once the computer is connected to the selected wireless network, click the Close button.
- Step 12:Now, go to your second computer and perform the steps mentioned below.
COMPUTER 2
- Step 1: Search for the Network icon in the system tray and click it.
- Step 2: You can see the list of available networks.
- Step 3: Select the network name which you have used to connect the first computer and click the Connect button.
- Step 4: Type the network security key in the Security Key field and click OK when you see the Connect To A Network window on the screen.
- Step 5: Now, both computers are connected to the same wireless network.
How to Set up Wireless Router without a Computer
- Step 1:Turn on your wireless router.
- Step 2:On your Android mobile phone, tap the Settings icon and then tap the Wi-Fi option.
- Step 3:Turn on the toggle next to the Wi-Fi option.
- Step 4:Tap the network name (SSID) of the wireless router in the Available Networks section.
- Step 5:Now, you will be prompted to enter the network security key (password) of the wireless router.
- Step 6:The Android mobile phone is connected now to the wireless network.
- Step 7:Tap the web browser icon on the Android mobile phone and then enter the default IP address of the wireless router in the URL field.
- Step 8:If you do not know the IP address of the wireless router, refer to the label that is attached to the rear side of the wireless router.
- Step 9:As soon as you see the wireless router’s login page, type the default login credentials in the Username and Password field.
- Step 10:Tap the Login button to access the wireless router’s web-based setup page.
- Step 11:Navigate to the Setup section and set the connection type.
- Step 12:Type the administrator password in the Password field and re-type it in the Confirm Password field.
- Step 13:When you tap the Next button, the configuration settings screen opens.
- Step 14:After completing the required wireless network configuration settings, tap the Next button followed by the Finish button.
How to Connect Netgear Wireless Router to Computer
- Step 1:First, turn on your Netgear router. Wait until the Wi-Fi LED glows.
- Step 2:Connect the router to your modem.
- Step 3:Establish a connection between your computer and the Netgear wireless router using an Ethernet cable.
- Step 4:Now, open the Wi-Fi Network Settings box by clicking the Wi-Fi Network icon in the system tray.
- Step 5:Select the network name of the Netgear wireless router from the displayed Wireless Networks list.
- Step 6:Select the checkbox next to the Connect Automatically option and click Connect.
- Step 7:Now, the Connect To A Network window prompts on the screen.
- Step 8:Enter the network security key in the Security Key field.
- Step 9:Note: The label that contains network information like network name (SSID) and network security key (password) is attached at the rear side of the Netgear wireless router.
- Step 10:Navigate to the default web browser of your computer. Access the Netgear web-based setup page by entering the appropriate URL or the router’s IP address in the address bar.
- Step 11:When prompted, you have to enter the credentials for authentication.
- Step 12:If required, go to the Wireless section to change the password.
How to Connect TP Link Wifi Router to Computer
Hardware Connection between Your Computer and Your TP-Link Wi-Fi Router
- Step 1:Untwist an Ethernet cable.
- Step 2:One end of the Ethernet cable should be connected to the Internet port of the TP-Link Wi-Fi router.
- Step 3:You should connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to a modem.
- Step 4:Take a new Ethernet cable and use it to establish a connection between the computer and the TP-Link Wi-Fi router.
Configuration
- Step 1:After establishing a hardware network connection, turn on the TP-Link router and the modem.
- Step 2:Click the Wireless Network icon that is located in the system tray.
- Step 3:Search for your network name, select it, and click the Connect button.
- Step 4:Type the password of the T-Link Wi-Fi router in the Enter the Network Security key field and click Next.
- Step 5:The network security is available in the rear panel of the TP-Link Wi-Fi router’s label.
- Step 6:Launch the browser such as Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, or Mozilla Firefox on the computer.
- Step 7:Type the tplinkwifi.net URL in the address bar.
- Step 8:Create a new administrator password in the Password field and re-type it in the Confirm Password field. Click the Let’s get Started button on the main panel of the screen.
- Step 9:Select your timezone from the Time Zone drop-down menu and then click the Next button.
- Step 10:Click the Auto Detect button followed by the Next button twice.
- Step 11:Fill both the Network Name (SSID) and Password fields with the correct network information.
- Step 12:Select the checkbox next to the Enable Wireless radio button and click the Next button followed by the Save button.
- Step 13:When the next window opens, check for the details.
- Step 14:Use these details to connect the computer and click the Next button.
- Step 15:Click the Login Later button followed by the Finish button.
