How To Open Ports On Netgear Router

To know how to open or create custom ports on a Netgear router, read the steps given below, and proceed with the same.

  • Step 1:On your Windows or Mac system, open the Google Chrome or Safari web browser.
  • Step 2:Enter the Netgear router’s IP address in the web browser’s search field.
  • Step 3:Press the Enter button on your system’s keyboard.
  • Step 4:Now, the login dialog box will appear on the screen.
  • Step 5:Enter your Netgear router’s login credentials in the given text fields.
  • Step 6:After entering the credentials, click the Login button.
  • Step 7:Once you reach the Netgear router’s management page, locate and click the Advanced tab.
  • Step 8:Select Advanced Setup --> Port Forwarding/ Port Triggering.
  • Step 9:Make sure that the Port Forwarding option is enabled.
  • Step 10:Click the Add Custom Service option.
  • Step 11:Now the Custom Services window will appear on the screen.
  • Step 12:Choose the TCP/UDP option from the Protocol drop-down menu.
  • Step 13:Fill the External Starting & Ending ports with the series mentioned beside it.
  • Step 14:Select the Use the same port range for internal port option.
  • Step 15:Enter the IP address that will use the service in the Internal IP address field.
  • Step 16:Re-check the data you have entered and click the Apply button.
  • Step 17:To get remote assistance in opening or creating the ports on your Netgear router, click the Call button available on this screen.
