HOW TO SET DNS ON ROUTER?

Carry out the steps to Set DNS On Router.

  • Step 1:The use of DNS is to set the domain name for IP addresses.
  • Step 3:The DNS for routers varies for different brands.
  • Step 3:First, open the web browser and enter the IP address of your router.
  • Step 4:Log in to your router setup, enter the router login id and password to Set DNS On Router.
  • Step 5:Click on DNS settings.
  • Step 6:The settings varied for different routers.
  • Step 7:You can always refer to the router manufacturer's support to find the settings.

  • Step 1:Linksys - Setup Basic Setup
  • Step 2:Asus - WAN > Internet connection

  • Step 6:You can use 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 for DNS servers 1 & 2.
  • Step 7:Let us see Asus routers, for example.
  • Step 8:Now, log in to your router internet setup.
  • Step 9:Select WAN under the Advanced Settings. Click Internet connection.
    • For DNS server-1, enter 1.1.1.1.
    • For DNS server-2, enter 1.0.0.1.
  • Step 10:You can now save your settings.
  • Step 11:Restart your browser.

Use the command prompt to run the following two commands:

  • ipconfig/flushdns
  • Ipconfig/renew
  • Step 1:The above two commands will renew your DNS IP settings.
  • Step 2:You can also configure DNS from the Control panel options.
  • Step 3:Select the Network & Internet from the control panel.
  • Step 4:Click the Network & Sharing center option and select Change Adapter Settings.
  • Step 5:Right-click on the Ethernet connection network and click Properties.
  • Step 6:Select the IPv4 option and click Properties.
    • In the preferred DNS field enter 1.1.1.1
    • In the alternate DNS, field enter 1.0.0.1
  • Step 7:Click OK.
