HOW TO SET UP PARENTAL CONTROLS ON WIFI ROUTER

The parental control feature on the Wi-Fi router network help the user to control and manage the web content by configuring the filter settings for the router. For the D-Link, Use the below procedure to Set Up Parental Controls On Wifi Router.

DIR-826L router:

  • Step 1:Enter the IP address of the D-Link router on the computer’s web browser and access the router’s login page.
  • Step 2:After that, type the router username and password to log in to the router’s configuration page.
  • Step 3:Go to the Advanced tab on the router page and click the Access Control menu on the left navigation panel.
  • Step 4:Under Access Control, check the checkbox of the Enable Access Control option.
  • Step 5:Click the Add Policy button to set up a new parental policy.

Policy Setup:

  • Step 1:Read the wizard steps. When you are ready, select Next.
  • Step 2:Up next, give a name to the new parental policy you are adding and click Next.
  • Step 3:To maintain a schedule for the parental policy, from the Details drop-down menu, choose Always to block sites all the time or Never to always keep the sites unblocked or else select Define a new schedule to create a different schedule.

Device selection:

  • Step 1:Select the right device to which the parental policy applies, choose IP as the Address Type and then enter the IP address of the device below. Otherwise, choose MAC as Address Type and type the Machine address of the device.
  • Step 2:You can add the devices which do not have the policy by selecting the radio button of Other Machine.
  • Step 3:Then, select the device name on the Computer Name category and then click the Next button.

Filtering features:

  • Step 1:ow, select the filtering method in the Method menu. The options are:
  • Step 2:Log Web Access Only - allows us to visit the sites that are already visited or logged in
  • Step 3:Block All Access - blocks all the websites on the internet
  • Step 4:Block Some Access - blocks only selective websites and pages
  • Step 5:You can enable the web filters and Advanced port filters for the policy by ticking the option and select Next.
  • Step 6:To add the ports in the port filters, fill all the fields below the Port Filter section and then select Next.
  • Step 7:To enable the Web Access Logging, click the Enabled option, otherwise turn off the web access logging for the websites that you have visited.
  • Step 8:After completing all the settings, the router saves the new policy.
  • Step 9:Now, click Continue on the page, and the router page appears.

Website filter:

  • Step 1:To block particular websites, click the Website Filter menu below Access Control on the left navigation panel.
  • Step 2:In the Website Filtering Rules section, choose any one of the website filter configuration menus, to either block or allow access for the websites from the drop-down menu.
  • Step 3:Below Website URL/Domain, type the website URLs and then click the Save Settings button.
  • Step 4:Wait till the settings are saved on the router after that verify the router settings.
