How To Set Up Wifi Router
The instructions to set up and configure your Wi-Fi router are provided below:
Step 1 - Wi-Fi router placement
Step 2 - Hardware connection
- Step 1:To set up the wireless router for the first time, you have to establish a wired connection using an Ethernet cable.
- Step 2: One end of the Ethernet cable should be attached to the WAN or Internet port of your wireless router.
- Step 3:And, the other end of the Ethernet cable needs to be connected to your modem.
- Step 4:Use another Ethernet cable to establish a connection between the LAN port of the wireless router and your computer.
- Step 5:Once you finish the network setup, you can disconnect the Ethernet cable.
Step 3 - Power up the wireless router and the modem
- Step 1:Ensure that you have turned on both the wireless router and the modem.
Step 4 - Configuring the wireless router
- Step 1:Launch your web browser, navigate to the address bar, and enter the wireless router’s IP address.
- Step 2:This will launch the Login page of the wireless router.
- Step 3:Get the network information at the rear side of the wireless router’s label.
- Step 4:Use the correct user name and password in the appropriate fields.
- Step 5:When you click the Login button on the Login page, you can access the wireless router’s web-based setup page.
- Step 6:You can configure the wireless router either automatically or manually.
- Step 7:On the wireless router’s web interface page, select the WPA/WPA2 option and type the security key in the Wireless Password field.
- Step 8:Click the Save option to save the configuration settings.
Step 5 - Connecting your computer
- Step 1:On your computer, click the Network icon in the system tray.
- Step 2:Once you choose the network name of the wireless router, type the security key in the ‘Enter the network security key’ field.
- Step 3:You will see the Connected message next to the wireless network name if the network connection is successful.
Step 6 - Updating the wireless router’s firmware (Optional)
- Step 1:Now, you have to update the wireless router’s firmware to the recent version.
