- Step 1 :Initially, make sure that the router has been set up properly. Check whether you are able to access the Internet using the router.
- Step 2 :Now, if you have connected the printer over a wired network, unplug the connections between printer and router and connect them back after a few minutes.
- Step 3 :Make sure that the cables are not defective.
- Step 4 :If you have connected the printer wirelessly, try connecting through a wired connection.
- Step 5 :Check whether you have set the printer as a default one.
- Step 6 :Go to the Control Panel on your computer and go to the Hardware and Sound section.
- Step 7 :Click the Add a device link under Devices and Printers.
- Step 8 :Right-click on your printer and select the 'Set as default printer' option from the displayed list.
- Step 9 :Now, restart your printer, router, and computer and check whether the printer works.
- Step 10 :If the printer doesn’t work, open the Devices and Printers window and right-click on your printer. Select the Troubleshoot option from the displayed list.
- Step 11 :Continue with the troubleshooting process and complete it by following the on-screen instructions.
- Step 12 :If the issue persists, reconfigure the network connection on the printer.
- Step 13 :Note: The steps for the wireless setup may vary according to your printer model. Refer to your printer’s user manual for the exact steps.
- Step 14 :Before beginning the process to reconfigure the wireless connection, make a note of your new router’s SSID and password.
- Step 14 :Now, go to your printer and restore the network settings to default. This will delete all the previously configured network settings on the printer.
- Step 15 :Now, perform the steps to establish a wireless connection between your router and the printer.
- Step 16 :When prompted, select your router’s SSID and password correctly.
- Step 17 :Once the printer is connected to the new router, proceed to install the printer software on your computer and complete the setup.
- Step 18 :Once it is done, perform a test print on the printer from your computer wirelessly and your issue new router now printer doesn’t work is fixed.
