Why My Router Power Light Flashing?

Is the power light on the router keeps on flashing? Usually, this happens if the router’s firmware is corrupted. Proceed with the steps that are given below to fix the router power light flashing issue.

  • Step 1 :Verify whether there are any defects with the power cable of the router. Replace it if needed.
  • Step 2 :Powercycle the router to check if the issue is resolved.
  • Step 3 :Unplug the power cord and Ethernet cables from the router.
  • Step 4 :Connect the Ethernet cables after 30 seconds. Then, connect the router to a power source.
  • Step 5 :If the issue persists, factory resetting the router will help in resolving the issue.
  • Step 6 :Locate the Reset button on the rear side of the router.
  • Step 7 :Use a pen or needle-like object to press the Reset button. Hold it for at least 30 seconds.
  • Step 8 :All the settings on the router will be restored to the factory defaults when the router is reset.
  • Step 9 :Now, turn on the router and configure it.
  • Step 10 :Launch a browser on the computer and type the IP address of the router in the address section to fix router power light flashing problem.
  • Step 11 :Initially, make sure to connect the router to your computer using an Ethernet cable.
  • Step 12 :To find the IP address of the router, press the Windows and R buttons together.
  • Step 13 :In the Run dialog box, type “cmd” in the Search section and press the Enter key.
  • Step 14 :When the Command Prompt window appears, enter “ipconfig.” Then, hit the Enter key.
  • Step 15 :Locate the IP address of the router in the Default Gateway section.
  • Step 16 :Now, go to the web-based setup page of the router.
  • Step 17 :Update the firmware of the router to the latest version.
  • Step 18 :Once you have updated the firmware, the router power light flashing issue will be resolved.
